In its previous life as one of Palma de Mallorcas most popular hang-outs for the islands international scene the Maricel was the site of exuberant parties and exclusive events. Born of this philosophy they have a functional minimalist edge using simple colors and textures. Following a restructuring by Hospes Design team traditional Balearic styling elements of the original building have been brought back to life in the form of archways arcades and pillars in marble and stone and the densely-packed Majorcan sandstone of thereabouts city Santanyi. The aura today is a lot more leisurely but the ghost of a decadent past somehow remains. In comparison to the neo-classical entrance Marcel's guestrooms were created with three basic principles in mind: comfort space and light.
